چکیده

Chapter 2 examines whether Africa’s urban transformations could lead to an increase in conflicts on the continent. It shows that West Africa is currently characterised by a rapid number and size of cities, trend followed North African countries several decades ago. The Sahel region, especially, experiencing urbanisation conjunction with continuous growth its rural population. chapter then discusses some factors may explain concentration or areas. Intra-elite competition new models political organisation democratizing states are two potentially more violence cities. However, armed groups can also flourish areas, especially if they control population natural resources. Finally, areas play crucial role life cycle region. As start, expand end, locations violent events shift from one area other, depending local dynamics.
